There is a growing danger that BRICS – the club of the nations that are holed up at the frontline, in the trenches, facing global Western imperialism – could one day be diluted and weakened if some radically right-wing Western allies, such as Indonesia and Turkey, were to be allowed to join.
BRICS consists of Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa, and it was originally supposed to be just an economic block, but in recent years, Western attacks against countries with independent political and economic systems, pushed most of the BRICS nations into a powerful political alliance, even an embrace. Part I – David Harris and the American Jewish Congress
For reasons unknown I have ended up on the list-serve of the American Jewish Congress. This means I receive messages sent out by its executive director, David Harris. Sometimes I even read them.
On 18 July 2014 I got just such a missive explaining that “too many in the international community fail to grasp the stark realities” Israel faces and its “severely limited policy options.” To set everyone straight Harris wrote an op-ed in the Boston Globe (also dated 18 July), a copy of which came along with his mailing.
Since the horror in Gaza continues unabated and Harris’s letter can be taken as representative of the American Zionist point of view, I decided that it was appropriate for me to deconstruct his op-ed for my own blog and list-serve. One should note that a similar contesting of Israeli rationalizations, dealing with somewhat different points, appears in a 25 July 2014 online article, entitled “Five Israeli Talking Points on Gaza – Debunked,” from the Nation magazine. Israël, l’ennemi de l’humanité, à défaut d’avoir atteint le moindre objectif stratégique dans son offensive meurtrière initiée début juillet, a repris le massacre des enfants de Gaza avec le soutien des gouvernements occidentaux et leurs chiens obéissants du monde arabe, tous muets face au génocide pratiqué sur une population civile emprisonnée dans ce qui n’est rien d’autre qu’un vaste camp de concentration où toutes les infrastructures nécessaires à la survie ont été pilonnées avec acharnement par l’armée autoproclamée « la plus morale du monde ». Les négociations en trompe-l’œil auxquelles Israël s’est prêté avec hypocrisie au Caire sans rien vouloir concéder aux exigences légitimes de la délégation palestinienne, ont permis au régime sioniste de récupérer des forces afin de se redéployer pour attaquer de nouveau, tel un ogre blessé, une bête immonde qui se nourrit du sang des enfants de Gaza.
