Mohsen Abdelmoumen: You are a world-class intelligence expert. How do you explain the inability of some Western countries to fight terrorism?
Prof. Mario Caligiuri: Any social problem must be understood in its true nature, which is cultural. The West interprets the world with its own eyes and does not necessarily understand it completely. The invasion of Iraq on the basis of false information indicating the existence of chemical weapons that did not exist, or the intervention against Gaddafi in Libya to stabilize the situation and ultimately create chaos, were obvious mistakes. Prof. Mario Caligiuri: Ogni problema sociale va inquadrato nella sua vera natura che è quella culturale. L’Occidente interpreta il mondo con i suoi occhi e quindi non lo comprende a fondo. Mohsen Abdelmoumen: You have written a very relevant and important book to understand the Cuban Revolution: The Evolution and Significance of the Cuban Revolution. In the light of your book, can we say that the Cuban revolution was very important for the emancipation not only of the Cuban people but of all the peoples of Latin America?
Dr. Charles McKelvey: I consider the Cuban Revolution to be a paradigmatic Third World Revolution. It has the dual character that essentially has defined Third World movements and revolutions: (1) an anti-colonial/neocolonial revolution that seeks the liberation of the nation from foreign imperialist domination, and (2) a revolution of social liberation, seeking the transformation of capitalist economic-political-cultural institutions. À la lumière de votre livre, peut-on dire que la révolution cubaine a été très importante pour l’émancipation non seulement du peuple cubain mais de tous les peuples d’Amérique latine ?
Dr. Charles McKelvey : Je considère la révolution cubaine comme une révolution paradigmatique du tiers monde. Elle a le caractère double qui a essentiellement défini les mouvements et les révolutions du tiers monde : (1) une révolution anti-coloniale/néocoloniale qui cherche à libérer la nation de la domination impérialiste étrangère, et (2) une révolution de libération sociale, cherchant la transformation des institutions économiques, politiques et culturelles capitalistes.
